Tommy's Story

Meet Tommy — 85 pounds of legs, enthusiasm, and absolutely no concept of personal space.

Tommy is about a year old and a wonderfully odd combination of Treeing Coonhound, Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd. He’s tall, handsome, hilarious, curious and still very much a big puppy.

Tommy approaches life at full volume. He wants to know what’s over the hill, what you’re doing, where you’re going, and most importantly, whether another dog would like to play with him. His answer to that last question is always yes.

For all that outdoor enthusiasm, Tommy has a surprisingly good off switch. Inside, he’s affectionate, people-oriented and perfectly capable of spending a good portion of the day snoozing. Then he walks outside and remembers that he has places to go and things to investigate.

He adores other dogs, but his play style is big, physical and persistent. He currently lives with older dogs who would very much like Tommy to find friends his own age. A playful, confident dog could be a fantastic match, or Tommy could happily soak up all the attention as someone’s one-and-only adventure buddy.

He also has the makings of a seriously fun hiking or running partner. He’s young, athletic and built to cover ground, and we would love to find him a person who actually enjoys having a dog along for the adventure.

Tommy isn’t being rehomed because he’s a bad dog. Quite the opposite. He’s a really great young dog who landed in a retirement community.

Somewhere out there is a person—or a dog—who has been waiting for exactly this much Tommy.

And we’d really like them to find each other.

Reach out to us if you’d like to meet Tommy!
