Tom's Story

If happiness had a face, it would look a lot like Tom. Just one look at his goofy grin and wagging tail, and it's impossible not to smile back. Tom is one of those dogs who genuinely loves people. Whether he's leaning in for scratches, soaking up attention, or simply hanging out beside you, he's happiest when he's with his humans.

Tom was rescued from the euthanasia list at BARC several years ago. While he's been safe ever since, he's spent that time living in a boarding facility rather than a home. The amazing part? It hasn't changed who he is. Despite spending so much time in a kennel, Tom remains happy, affectionate, social, and emotionally well-adjusted. He hasn't become withdrawn or shut down. Instead, he greets people with excitement, enjoys affection, and still believes every new person might become his best friend. His resilience is truly remarkable.

Tom rides well in the car, although he'd benefit from a little patience and encouragement getting into one since he hasn't had many opportunities to practice leaving the boarding facility. Once he's in, he's a wonderful passenger.

We're not sure how Tom does with other animals in a home, but he has been calm and appropriate with dogs he's seen through fencing. A proper introduction would be the best way to determine if he's a match for another dog.

What Tom really wants isn't complicated: a soft bed, a family to love, and someone to tell him that after all these years of waiting...he's finally home. If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a heart as big as his smile, Tom is ready to meet you.

Tom is being courtesy posted for an independent rescuer. Tom is in Houston, TX; however, if the ideal home is found for him outside of Houston, transport arrangements may be available.

Tom is completely vaccinated and has a clean health bill. He's neutered and ready to find his forever home. Please contact: info@wagsfundrescue.com and we will connect you to his sponsor.
