Toffee's Story

Meet Toffee, a super sweet ~6 month old spayed female shepherd/cur mix with the prettiest brindle coloring! She weighs about 30 lbs currently and our best guess is that she will grow to 40-60 lbs. Toffee was picked up as a stray in east TN and is currently being fostered in CT while she waits to find her furever home! Toffee is gentle, loving, affectionate girl. She can be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly and is a total love! She is great with people, kids, and other dogs. She has not been cat tested, however she is currently being fostered in a home with a giant rabbit and she has done well with the rabbit. She appears to have a pretty low prey drive, so we think she would likely do ok with cats. Toffee is medically up to date, mostly housebroken (expect accidents first few days while adjusting to a new home/routine), and crate trained. Apply to meet this special pup today! As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. Paws Rescue League Inc.'s Adoption Policy

WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE AND ARE LICENSED IN CT. We have fosters throughout New England. The applicant MUST be willing to meet the dog at the foster's location. 1) You must fill out an application. Applications can take 2-5 days to complete, Please go on our website to submit an application: https://www.pawsrescueleague.org/adoptable-dogs.html YOUR INQUIRY WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNLESS AN APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED 2) A home visit will be scheduled with with the potential adopter, either in person or over a virtual video call. Once you have had your home visit, you will receive an email notifying you of our decision. 3) If approved a meet and greet will be arranged with you, and the dog and the foster parent. So you and your family/fur members can meet the dog and make sure everyone gets along. 4) We send adopters the adoption contract prior to the meet and greet so you have a chance to read over the adoption contract. Adopters must sign the contract before taking the dog home with them. You have 48 hours after meeting the dog to decide to adopt or not to adopt. - We try not to hold up dogs for too long and do not want to miss out on a good home for them. 5) If you choose to adopt, you will need to sign before picking the dog up, or bringing the dog home. We ask for a "I am furever home" picture to post to our website after each dog has been adopted! ** We are NOT adopting to MA or ME residents at this time! Thank you!
