Todd's Story

Todd arrived in Iowa in Mid-May after he and his two siblings survived the parvovirus at their rescue in Oklahoma. These three pups proved they were strong of heart and had a will to live! Their mom is said to be an American English Coonhound; dad -unknown. Todd is currently 4-months old and weighs about 20 pounds. He will likely grow to be a medium sized (40-60 pound) with long ears, short fur, and a exceptional nose so that he can sniff out those critters!

Todd is the goofiest boy; he loves to play with his foster siblings, especially outside. He can find any piece of a paper towel or toilet paper, and have the most amazing time! He is also very curious, precocious and so much fun to watch as he explores each new thing he encounters. He bonded very quickly with his foster mom and her teen-aged daughter and loves to cuddle and snuggle AFTER he has worked off some of his energy playing outside. He can be a bit stubborn and single minded if he's focused on an action or object. Todd is crate trained and is working diligently on house training. He has shown some slight food aggression, so he is fed in his kennel. This is something that also will need to be taken into consideration.

Todd can be slightly timid when it comes to new things (it took him a bit to figure out stairs!) He is a follower in most of the shenanigans the dogs in his foster home get into. He is learning to vocalize and will let you know when he thinks you aren't paying attention to what he's trying to tell you. He is also the first to come up to new people and make their acquaintance and never met a treat he didn't like.

Todd will need a job to do and will thrive in an environment with other dogs to help show him how to pack. He will require a lot of activity, daily exercise and humans to love and provide him with companionship. A large fenced in yard would be preferred as well as frequent walks with his humans.

Siblings: Todd (M) Copper (M) Lucy (F)

If you are interested in meeting Todd, please complete an online application at https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application

Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
