Toby's Story

Meet Toby! Toby is an approx. 8-year-old blue Weimaraner with a calm soul and a big, loving heart. He’s happiest stretched out on the floor, enjoying a good rest, soaking up snuggles, or taking his time sniffing and exploring the outdoors. He’s not in a rush—Toby appreciates life at an easy, laid-back pace. In his foster home, Toby gets along great with his foster sister Weim, shows no reaction to the outside cats, and is especially sweet and affectionate with the teenagers and his foster mom. He’s a loving, gentle presence and would thrive in a low-key home where he can enjoy companionship, cozy naps, and leisurely outdoor time. He is heartworm positive, and will be starting treatment soon. If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate companion to share your space, Toby might just be your perfect match. (note: Toby is currently in a temporary foster home while we look for a foster/adoptive home that will love him through treatment. AWCR pays for all medical needs.)

Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue's Adoption Policy

The Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue uses a common process in rescue program. You will find this to be the case with any reputable rescue organization. Potential homes are screened carefully to make sure they can provide an appropriate environment. We are glad to have phone conversations and communicate by email. We have a pre-adoption application, a vet check on current and prior animals, a home visit, and binding contract. All this would need to be done before placement. All of our rescue dogs must be spayed or neutered. We do not place intact dogs. They must also be micro-chipped, with registration to be updated at time of adoption. Our dogs will be up to date with veterinary needs prior to adoption. Patience is in order for most of our applicants. An appropriate Weim may or may not be available at this time. Sometimes we get a call for an owner-surrender or we may get a call from a shelter about an available dog. We encourage our owners who surrender to hold onto their dog if possible.
