Toby's Story

Meet Toby

Toby is a 4-year-old male pug with a big personality, a sensitive heart, and a whole lot of potential.

Toby is currently adjusting to foster care and showing that he's a bit overwhelmed by all the recent changes in his life. In new environments, he self-soothes by quietly chewing on toys (almost like a pacifier) which we believe is a sign of stress rather than bad behavior. As he settles in, he continues to show just how sweet and affectionate he truly is.

While Toby does not appear to have been fully house-trained in his most recent home, he is already showing improvement as each day goes on. With consistency, patience, and a calm environment, he is expected to continue making progress. He is working on crate training and doing very well.

Toby enjoys people and bonds closely with his humans. He would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time, as stability and routine will help him feel secure and confident.

When it comes to other animals, Toby needs to be the only dog in the home. While he can coexist with dogs in some settings, he resourve guards food and toys and would thrive best without having to share space, meals, or attention with another dog. He is also not a fit for a home with cats, as he tends to chase them.

Medically, Toby is healthy, neutered, microchipped, and has no known medical issues. Some vaccinations will need updating (which the rescue is doing).

Ideal home for Toby:
• Only dog
• No cats
• Calm environment
• Someone home most of the time
• Willing to continue house-training with patience

Toby is a loving, sensitive little guy who has experienced a lot of transitions in a short time. With the right home, (one that offers consistency, understanding, and plenty of reassurance) he has all the makings of a loyal, joyful companion. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality truly shines.
