Toby's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Are you looking for a loyal sidekick, professional cuddle expert, and part-time home security system all wrapped up in a handsome 20-pound Boston Terrier package? Then let us introduce you to Toby!

At around three years old, Toby is a neutered male Boston Terrier who is equal parts snuggler, comedian, and devoted best friend. His favorite place in the world? Wherever you are. Whether you're cooking dinner, watching TV, working from home, or even making a quick trip to the bathroom, Toby firmly believes life is better when shared together.

This charming little guy loves attention and has never met a belly rub he didn't enthusiastically approve of. After burning off his daily zoomies, he'll happily settle in for an evening of cuddles and fully expects to be tucked under the covers at bedtime. Toby takes his snuggle responsibilities very seriously!

Toby is also a huge fan of sunshine and outdoor adventures. Whether he's lounging in a sunny spot, exploring the yard, or simply soaking up the fresh air, outdoor time is one of his favorite parts of the day. Like all Boston Terriers, however, Toby's outdoor time should be supervised, especially during very hot or very cold weather, as the breed can be sensitive to temperature extremes.

Toby currently lives with a family that includes three teenagers, and he absolutely adores them. He thrives with people he knows and trusts, but he isn't a fan of a revolving door of noisy visitors. Friends of the teenagers can make him uneasy, and new people sometimes make him nervous. When he's feeling unsure, he may bark or even nip to communicate his discomfort. Because of this, Toby is looking for a relatively calm home with adults or older children who can respect his boundaries and help him continue building confidence around visitors.

When it comes to other dogs, Toby can be a bit selective about his friendships. He currently lives successfully with a female dog and tends to do well with smaller dogs, while larger dogs can sometimes be hit-or-miss. Cats are currently an unknown.

Toby is smart, affectionate, and deeply devoted to his people. Once you've earned a spot in his inner circle, you'll have a loyal shadow, dedicated cuddle buddy, and faithful best friend for life. He already knows he's the best boy ever, and honestly, we're inclined to agree.

If you're looking for a loving companion with a goofy streak, a sunny disposition, and enough personality to keep you smiling every day, Toby may be your perfect match.

All adoptions begin with our online application at www.abtrr.org.

If you have questions specifically about Toby, please email us at info@abtrr.org.

While we do have a phone number, we have a very small volunteer base, and we are often unable to return phone calls in a timely manner. American Boston Terrier Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adoption Process Out of state adoption policy: We are located in Dallas, TX. We will adopt some of our dogs out of state, depending on their situation and needs; however, it is our policy not to ship dogs. This means we do not fly them via cargo nor do we utilize paid ground transport. Adopters may drive to Dallas to adopt their dogs, or they may fly them in-cabin on an airplane (via an airline that accepts Boston Terriers in the cabin). All transport costs are at the adopter's expense. Applying to adopt: Complete the application in its entirety. If there is anything that you think we need to know that is not asked on the application or you have certain requirements or traits you are looking for in a dog, please put it in the “Other Comments” section of the application. Reference Check: We will contact your personal and veterinarian references. If those pass, then a home visit will be arranged. One of our volunteers will visit you in your home to ensure that a good match is made for you and that you have proper accommodations for the dog you are interested in. Personal Interview: We will contact you via phone at a time that is convenient for you. This interview lasts around 45 minutes with the purpose of getting to know you in addition to sharing our policies and answering questions you may have. We also discuss your home and expectations for the dog so we can be sure you adopt a Boston that is a great fit for you and him/her! Home Visit: If your home visit passes, then you are approved to adopt from ABTRR!
