Meet Toby
Toby is a 9-10 year old adorable little Shih Tzu. Toby was dumped at the shelter by his "family" in Texas because they said he was not a puppy anymore and they were over having a pet with "needs". When they dumped him at the shelter he had such a bad eye infection that had clearly been going on for such a long time they had to remove his eye. That hasn't stopped Mr. Toby at all. He actually feels even better now that he is a happy, healthy boy! He doesn't see too well, if at all but he learns his way around incredibly quickly and has had almost no issues at all at his foster home.
Toby is incredibly sweet and easy. He loves to spend most of his time snuggled up next to his human just sleeping and hanging out. If he could do that all day every day for the rest of his life he would be the happiest little dog in the world. He is house trained as long as he is let out regularly. He is sweet with the fosters grandkids but when they jump around him or move quickly it does startle him a little, so a home with no kiddos or minimal activity with crazy little kiddos would be best for Toby. He is completely fine with other dogs, maybe a little bit too old to play with them but doesn't mind them and will even snuggle up with them. He does bark at the cat, which is funny since he can't really see. He is just so goofy. He just absolutely loves his little bed, blankets, and his foster Momma.
We did get Toby's bloodwork back and everything looks great. Minus his sight he is a healthy boy and has a long life ahead of him, he just needs a best friend/companion to spend it with. His urinary crystal levels were a little high, not super concerning but we did put him on a special diet just to be extra cautious and to keep him healthy and living...hopefully forever!.
Senior dogs deserve just as much love and an 8 week old puppy. They are not trash to just throw away. Toby has the sweetest little soul and so much life to live.
