TOBY 's Story

TOBY is approx 3 1/2 yrs old....we think a purebred Husky .....he was rescued within 24 hrs of being euthanized at the Martinez shelter

He is such a beautiful dog! ......that needs a very experienced Husky person / family as he's dominant and needs a strong pack leader!

We don't know his history but it's possible he was a back yard dog. He does need some socialization and people skills but that's not his fault!

GOOD THINGS

He’s VERY loyal and likes to hang out with his person….if you are in the kitchen he will be in the kitchen
So he makes a great companion!

He’s both an inside - outside dog

He’s NOT a Houdini like most Huskies …he never tries to escape the back yard….I totally trust that if he’s left outside ….he will still be there when it’s time to come in

He is usually right outside the back door waiting for you

He’s VERY playful….he LOVES toys and can stay entertained for hours

He's dog tolerant with BOTH small and large breeds as long as they are also dog tolerant and don’t challenge him …..

He does better with dogs he knows and has several friends at the Rescue including Chi Hua Huas
A Malti-poo, a Senior Border Collie

QUIRKS

He is a little bit of a wild card and has a mind of his own.

He can be mildly reactive at times with both people and other dogs

In other words he doesn’t like to be told what to do…..! And will growl at us or other dogs to let us know he doesn’t like something or someone which can be intimidating

He is somewhat Food Possessive
it’s fairly mild and easily managed he will growl to warn you if you are too close to his food but no kids because they might not get. This can also be a little intimidating

He’s VOCAL or talks to you and can get “whiny” until you come say hi!
But he’s not a barker….

CONCLUSION
He has many nice qualities and a couple quirks! If you would like to give him a chance to have a real home please submit an inquiry.....and we will be happy to set up a meet and greet!
