Toby's Story
Everyone, Meet Toby!

We are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home for this active fellow, maybe yours?

Toby has been with us and a work in progress for a few months now. We believe he is a Schnauzer mix, about 3 years old and 30#. He was left in an apartment for a few months with neighbor's caring for him when his owner moved and abandoned him. Somehow he managed to escape the apartment and was running loose in Onondaga County, in the middle of Winter when one of his caretakers called us for help. He was very scared when he first came to us, but has learned overall that people are pretty cool once he gets to know them. It may take him a while to warm when you first meet him, but in a short time, he will likley be looking for belly rubs!

Toby is an active boy amd will need work with training especially when it comes to not jumping up on people and pulling on the leash. He will also need brushing up on housebreaking since he likely never got any real training of any kind in his previous home.

This little cutie is all about attention, any that he can get. He loves to run around, play with toys, and be the life of the party in general. Although he has had some play dates with other dogs, he can be a bit dog selective so a meet and greet with household dogs would be a must. He has not been cat tested. Due to his high energy levels, a sedentary home would not be best for Toby. He is all about action! Due to his previous history of " being on the lamb", a home with a fenced yard is also being recommended to keep him safe and under wraps while outdoors.

Fostering is free, but if you choose to adopt, an adoption donation of $450 is being asked to cover a portion of his veterinary and care fees. He has been examined, vaccinated, treated for intestinal and external parasites and has been neutered.

Due to his size and energy level, foster or foster to adopt requirements are:
•Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY to continue his vetting, if needed, prior to adoption. Once adopted, we recommend establishing him at your regular veterinarians office.
•Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
•If there are other dogs in home, a meet and greet will be required with them to make sure all get along. He has not been tested with cats in the home.
•Like all new arrivals, he will need a patient and consist home so she can grow into the best boy he can be
•Homes with children over 12 years old should be ok since he is an active boy
•Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match
•Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet.

Apply to foster or foster to adopt today!

Apply to foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

Apply to foster only: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/foster-application--acbs
