Toast's Story

Hi, my name is Toast! I'm a GREEN pawprint, which means I will fit well into most homes. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Easygoing, happy, friendly, affectionate, snuggly
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history, but based on our observations in shelter, it seems like she would do well with gentle, respectful kids of most ages. Everyone will need to meet at the shelter first to ensure they all get along.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised introduction.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Toast could live with a social and tolerant dog pending an initial introduction done here at WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: Yes, with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, although a home with a yard would be preferred!
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Spay/microchip
-Additional Information: Toast is a friendly, easygoing gal who came to the shelter as a stray. Unfortunately no one ever came looking for her, so now she's ready to find a new forever family to call her own! Toast is incredibly affectionate and loves to be around her people. She'll lean her full body weight into your legs for optimum petting potential! She loves to toss around a squeaky toy (and plop it into your lap when she's ready for you to throw it again) and would likely be a big fan of casual games of fetch in the backyard. Toast has a nice moderate energy level that would likely be well-matched with most households. She knows sit, shake, and down, and has great leash manners! We're not sure why nobody ever came looking for this gem of a dog, because she truly is something special! If she sounds like the perfect fit for you, submit an application to come in and meet her!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
