Tito's Story

Pomona, CA<br/><br/>We are delighted to introduce you to Tito, a wonderful little dog from a Riverside shelter who is now seeking his forever home. This exceptionally active boy, estimated to be around six years old, would make a fantastic companion for someone with an active lifestyle who can provide him with regular walks and opportunities for play. Interestingly, he responds with great enthusiasm to the name Batman, although his name is Tito. He came to our rescue at the same time as another dog we named Carlos, and within our organization, they are affectionately known as Carlos Santana and Tito Fuentes.<br/><br/>Tito possesses a truly playful nature. He particularly enjoys squeaky toys and balls, and he will happily engage in a game of fetch for extended periods if given the chance. While we initially suspected a strong bond between Tito and Carlos, they appear to be quite independent. Unfortunately, we have no background information on their lives before arriving at the shelter, as they were listed as confiscated and were exclusively available to rescue organizations.<br/><br/>Although Tito may exhibit some initial shyness when meeting new people, he quickly becomes playful and affectionate once he feels comfortable. He also interacts well with other dogs. In his foster home, he lives with a cat who is considerably larger than him. While Tito has occasionally attempted to chase the cat, she remains unfazed and does not run, which discourages him. Tito will bark when he sees strangers; however, he responds well to verbal reassurance and will stop barking once acknowledged with a simple "Thank you, I see him/her."<br/><br/>One of Tito's great joys is spending time outdoors, where he loves to follow the sun's path across the yard. It is important to note that Tito experienced a significant allergic reaction to his rabies vaccination, so any prospective adopter should be aware of this sensitivity. He weighs approximately 10 pounds and has already been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Occasionally, Tito can be a little territorial regarding his personal items, such as his bed and blanket, preferring not to share them. Despite this minor trait, he is truly a good-natured dog who we believe would thrive with an active individual or family. While he enjoys being out and about, he is also well-behaved indoors and often enjoys relaxing on the couch. As he tends to eat very quickly, he is fed from a special bowl designed to slow his eating. He also delights in having energetic bursts of activity, which we call "zoomies." We are confident that in the right loving home, Tito will continue to flourish and show even more of his wonderful personality.<br/><br/>If you believe that Tito would be a perfect fit for your family and you can offer him the active life he needs, we encourage you to contact us for further information or to arrange a meeting.<br/><br/>www.gunterslegacy.org

Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We are based in Claremont, CA . However, we have adoptable in Northern and Southern California. Please read each description of the animal for their location. You must live in California and within 1.5 hours of where the dog/cat is being fostered. All of our adoptable animals are given a thorough wellness checkup. Senior cats or dogs may receive additional tests, i.e., bloodwork. All receive a fecal, a heartworm test, DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella, and a microchip, and are neutered/spayed. We also provide any additional necessary tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, medications, and consults with specialists and necessary medical procedures.  All animals also receive comprehensive dental cleaning and extractions when deemed necessary by our veterinarians.  Step 1 - Application Adopter candidates are required to complete and submit an adoption application which will be reviewed by Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue's Board of Directors. If the application is approved for the first step either a board member and/or the foster of the animal you are interested in will call you for a phone interview. Step 2 - Home Check Once the 1st step has been completed, reviewed, and receives initial approval, we will schedule a mandatory home check.  Step 3 - Meet & Greet If the 1st and 2nd step is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet with the potential adopters and dog(s). It is required that all members of the adoptive family must be present for the meet and greet. Step 4 - Pet Introduction If the adopter already has existing pets (dogs or cats), we require all the pets to be properly introduced by a member of Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue. We will not adopt a dog into a home that has reached its city-mandated limit. All required steps must be completed and approved by the Board of Directors before finalizing the adoption. Adoption Process and Policies: Not all dogs listed on this website are currently available for adoption, each dog's bio will contain its availability We are a small non-profit rescue and we are completely run and operated by unpaid volunteers. We will try as much as possible to return all calls, emails, and statuses. All our dogs once cleared for adoption will be seeking permanent loving homes. Before applying to adopt, please understand we are looking for people and/or families who are ready and willing to commit to a dog for its entire lifespan. This could be up to 20 years. Adoption Requirements:? Adopters must be at least 25 years of age Please consider the age and size of the dog, a dog can live to be in their late teens to 20 years old please be mindful of a dog's age. Adopters must live in the state of California and within 1.5 hours of where the foster pet is located Must have a valid CA Drivers License or ID We cannot/will not guarantee any of our adoptable dogs are "hypoallergenic". Be willing and able to follow the mandatory adoption process and contract We do not adopt dogs or cats to families with children under the age of 10 years old  If you disagree we understand but this is our policy. This policy was thoroughly researched and an attorney and veterinarians were consulted before we wrote this policy. The animal must be for the person(s) completing the adoption application. Must allow a representative to follow up with the adoptive family post-adoption at 2 weeks and again at 6 months Be willing to provide the adopted dog with premium food (not supermarket food), water, and regular medical care (vaccines, flea/heartworm treatment, dental, and any other medically necessary medications, procedures, etc.) for the rest of their natural life Agree to the Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue Adoption Contract Agree that Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue has the RIGHT to regain possession of the adopted dog without notice if any of the terms of the contract have been violated. Also, information about our dogs is based to the best of our knowledge, but we can make no guarantees about the dog’s health or temperament. Return Policy: We do try to make good adoption matches, and for our clients and our dogs to live happily together always. However, GLAR remains committed to the dogs for the remainder of their lives and will accept dogs back, by appointment, should it not work out. When adopting, we ask clients to be prepared and committed to providing the dog and themselves at least a week together to settle in prior to deciding to return the dog.
