Tiptoe's Story

Tiptoe, or Tippy, is a 7-year-old brown and white parti colored mini schnauzer. She spent her whole life up until now in a horrendous breeding operation that has finally been charged with animal neglect. She came into rescue with fur so matted you couldn’t tell her head from her tail. She is ready to put that life behind her though and be the love of someone’s life! Tippy weighs about 12.5 pounds.

Because of her early life, she is very timid, but gets along well with other dogs, both males and females. She is learning about housetraining and is doing pretty good with a potty pad. For the first part of her life, no one cared enough to train her. She is a little scared of being picked up, but once in your arms or lap, she loves the attention. She is making good progress in getting over her fears considering that she has only been in rescue for two months, but it will be a long process. Can you help her? She really needs an existing companion dog to teach her how to be a fun loving pet, but she would love to learn. She likes having people company, so she would love to be adopted by a retired person or couple, or someone who works from home like her foster Mom. We suggest that a potential adopter have previous experience with a puppy mill survivor.

Tiptoe is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and microchipped. She had a dental when she came into rescue and lost most of her teeth due to the breeder’s neglect. She can eat moistened kibble and loves canned food.
