Tipsy's Story
Meet Tipsy (also known as Buffy)

Tipsy/Buffy is a smart, hilarious, deeply affectionate little terrier mix with a huge personality packed into a small body. She's the kind of dog who will make you laugh with her goofy underbite, melt into you for cuddles, and surprise you with how quickly she learns.

She is incredibly people-oriented once she feels safe and connected. Tipsy/Buffy loves snuggling close, loves being praised, and forms strong bonds quickly. She is wonderfully expressive and communicative, and when she trusts you, she is sweet, funny, loyal, and full of charm.

Tipsy/Buffy is also a very bright dog who enjoys learning. She picked up on potty training quickly, began using bells, and showed strong progress with cues like name recall, wait, and leave it. She also did well with crate games, meals in the crate, and special chew/Kong time when she could still feel connected to her person. She will need someone to work with her being left alone, but with how smart she is, it shouldn't take long.

She has many lovely day-to-day qualities: she rides well in the car, is generally very good on leash unless distracted by squirrels or other exciting critters, allows handling for harnessing and being picked up, and is not destructive around the home. She's medium-energy and loves a good nap. She is an absolute pro at intense and deeply-loving eye contact.

Tipsy/Buffy would do best with an adopter who understands that while she has so many amazing qualities, she can also be sensitive and reactive in certain situations. She may need support around new people, visitors entering the home, separation, and overstimulating environments. She seems to do best with slow introductions, patience, and clear structure. Because of this, she would likely thrive with someone who is comfortable continuing her training and helping her build confidence at her own pace.

She would also do best in a single family home with a private yard, so she can avoid over-stimulation from big-city sights and sounds.

Tipsy/Buffy has so much potential in the right home: one that appreciates both her sweetness and her sensitivity, and is willing to let her unfold gradually. For the person who enjoys building trust with a clever, devoted little dog, Buffy could be a really special companion.
