Tio's Story
Meet Tio! Tio is a 1-2 year old male yorkie/schnazuery/terrier mix and he weighs about 9 pounds. Tio arrived at animal services and no one came to claim him and he was very scared. He has settled into his foster home nicely and is ready to find a family to call his own. His foster mom says: Although this little guy is very outgoing, he is also very protective. He loves looking out the front door and windows and will bark at everyone and everything. So please, no shared walls for him (no apartments or townhomes). Outside he will bark until he is distracted or picked up and quieted. He will quiet down quicker for a female stranger than a male. It will take him several times to meet a man and then he calms down. Inside he chills at your feet or in your lap if he can. He will hang out under the computer chair or in either of his beds but does prefer stretching out on the couch or recliner at the end of the day. Bedtime, it is either his bed or yours (if you allow). When he gets excited, he jumps, dances on hind legs, and licks your hands, but can also nip at your feet in excitement, so little humans may not be best for him. He is a shoe thief, though hasn’t chewed them. He likes to play but chews the fuzz off tennis balls and will chew a hole in a fuzzy toy. We are working on housebreaking. Tio is getting better with frequent trips outside, rewards, and figuring his new schedule. He has had interactions with other dogs in the neighborhood with mixed reactions so a home with no other animals may be the best fit for him. You are always within his line of sight so that he doesn’t miss anything. He can get underfoot in the kitchen hoping for gravity to work in his favor, so could be troublesome for an older person. We are working on some basic commands. If you are looking for your adorable BFF, Tio is the one.

Tio is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and has had his teeth cleaned.

Tio is fostered in the Orlando area and his adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in applying to adopt Tio, please visit www.floridalittledogrescue.com to read the adoption process and complete an application! Please note that emails simply asking "Is this dog available" will not be returned, as applications are worked in the order received and availability largely depends on when you apply:) Please also know we do not adopt out of state! Thank you!
