Tinky's Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! :)

*******PLEASE read full bio before considering Tinky, she is a special needs dog due to her fear behaviors.***********************************************************************

Yes, Tinky is as cute as a button with that scruffy little face and a coat of pure white. Well, almost. She has a couple of faint freckles around her ears which makes her that much more adorable. Tinky is around a year and a half old, about 25-30 pounds and is a very athletic girl. She is incredibly smart and perceptive, and very athletic.

Tinky has had a bumpy past. She was picked up as a stray last spring and held at an animal control until a rescue took her in. They decided she was not right for their program, she has been very fearful. So, she came to us, we deal with many dogs that need some extra TLC to get them on their feet. She was only with us for a few days when due to a family emergency and ambulance was called. With all of the commotion, paramedics and such, Tinky ran off. She was gone for 25 days, and thanks to a recovery team, she is back with us.

We can say she has done amazingly well and has done her best to settle in. She LOVES the other dogs, lives to play fetch and will bring the toy back. Silly Tinky has a special hiding place in the yard for her toys when she is done playing, lol! She sleeps well in her crate at night, is housebroken, and can be very loving on her terms. That would be when I am sitting down. She will come to the side of me, paw at me and let me pet, snuggle and even hug her. She gets so happy and excited and will jump on me, get the wiggles and be so sweet.

BUT....that is on her terms when she is feeling comfortable. Other times she is very skiddish, little things can set her off. Such as, towering over her, reaching for her while standing, often coming back in from outside. Tinky has NEVER been fear aggressive, no snarling, nipping or anything. We often have to put a leash on her to go outside just so we can get her back indoors. Something in her triggers that fear and distrust on occasion, so she will need a ton of patience and understanding.

Tinky is not the dog for everyone. But, if someone out there has a big heart, and loads of fearful dog experience, she could do well with that love and guidance. She so wants to let her guard down and be just like the other dogs, and she is getting better. She will probably never be 100%, we can only guess her previous life was not so great. But, there is hope, she is so happy when she is with her dog buddies, or getting a treat, or playing fetch. Tinky is more than welcome to spend her life here with us, but, she really deserves her very own(younger than us!) family. She is a flight risk so a secure yard is important, as well as another dog in the home to help her acclimate.

Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. Tinky will be need a lot of love and patience, but she is very much worth it.
