Tinkerbell Chihuahua & Dachshund Mix Lacona, NY

12/5/22: Foster to adopt home needed.

Tinkerbell and Dinky as well as the 5 Disney litter pups were left in a home when their owner was hospitalized. A rescue that we work with in Kentucky was called to help by family members when they realized they were left unattended for a few days. Once we saw their pictures and heard their plea for help, we couldn't say no. Tinkerbell is just under 14# making her the perfect size for lap sitting. She takes a few minutes to warm up to new people, but has a very sweet disposition overall and just wants to be loved. According to the Akc breed standard, Chihuahuas are "a tiny dog with a huge personality. They possess loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude. Chihuahuas are adaptable as long as they get lots of quality time in their preferred lap." Dachshunds are described as "smart and vigilant, with a big-dog bark, they make fine watchdogs. Bred to be an independent hunter of dangerous prey, they can be brave to the point of rashness, and a bit stubborn, but their endearing nature and unique look has won millions of hearts the world over." In general, this blend is playful but also like to be held and definitely have their favorite people they bond very strongly to. Due to her small size and shyness, we are looking for a home with children 10 years and over and dogs under 30#. She has been brought up to date on her vaccines and has been spayed as well as started on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All she lacks now is you!

Due to her small size, prerequisites for adoption are:

•Living within an hour of Adams, NY so she can get follow up care until adopted.
•Having dogs under 30# in the home, if any at all. She came from a home with other dogs but will need a meet and greet with other dogs in the foster home prior to placement to be sure all get along.
•Having a verifiable veterinary reference for current/previous pets
(cats and dogs in the home must be current on vaccines, in annually and spay/neutered)
•Children in the home should be 10 years or older
•Toy breed dog experience is preferred but not required
•All members of the family, including dogs, should be present at pick to be sure the puppy will be accepted

Adoptions limited to a 500 mile radius of Pulaski, NY and pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes.
