Tinker's Story

Meet Tinker

Tinker is Jack Russell through and through, and we'll be the first to admit that Jack Russells are keeping us on our toes!

This sweet little girl came to us from an Amish puppy mill, so at 8 years old, she is learning some things that most dogs get to learn much earlier in life. She's a petite 16.8 pounds of personality.

House training? We're working on it. Manners? Also a work in progress. Appropriate things to chew? Well... Tinker would like everyone to know that couches are apparently VERY tempting. We're redirecting that enthusiasm toward toys and teaching her that furniture is not, in fact, a giant chew toy.

Despite her past, Tinker is as sweet as can be. She currently lives among about 28 other dogs at the sanctuary and does pretty darn well considering the circumstances. Every once in a while she gets a little cranky with another dog, but put anyone in a house with 28 roommates and see how cheerful they are every single day!

Medically, Tinker is doing well. She has received her routine veterinary care, vaccinations and preventatives, and scheduled for spay and dental. Tinker is ready to continue learning how wonderful life outside a puppy mill can be.

Tinker needs someone who understands that years in a puppy mill don't disappear overnight. She needs patience, consistency, structure and a sense of humor. In return, you'll get a sweet, spirited little Jack Russell who is finally getting the opportunity to learn what being someone's beloved dog is supposed to feel like.

And preferably someone with a good supply of chew toys.

Tinker is a work in progress, and we think she's absolutely worth the work.
