Tina's Story
Meet Tina — A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance

Tinas story is heartbreaking, but we believe her best days are still ahead. When Tina's beloved owner passed away, she was left behind at the home they once shared. For more than 8 months, Tina lived alone in a backyard, surviving on the kindness of family members who stopped by to leave food and water. Day after day, she waited for someone to come home.

Her only shelter from the heat, cold, rain, was a small makeshift doghouse. What makes Tina so remarkable is that despite everything she has endured, she remains incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting. There is something truly special about this girl. You can see it in her eyes—the sadness of what she's lost, but also the hope and resilience that have carried her through.

Thankfully, Tina is no longer alone. She is currently safe in a temporary foster home, where she is finally receiving the care, comfort, and companionship she was missing for so long. Now she is looking for a foster-to-adopt home or forever family to help her begin her next chapter.

Estimated to be around 5 years old, Tina is affectionate, loyal, and loves being around people. She leans into pets, seeks out attention, and has a calm, loving personality that makes her easy to adore. After months of isolation, she is enjoying human connection once again. We have been told that Tina previously lived peacefully with other dogs, but she will need a home committed to proper decompression and slow introductions as she adjusts. Because we are still learning about her history, a home without young children is preferred. Homes with small animals should be able to safely separate them during her adjustment period. On walks, Tina loves stopping to smell the roses and is pretty good on the leash. She is a powerful girl, though, and will need a confident, strong handler who can manage her size and strength. Barking dogs can get her revved up, so she does best with someone who understands the breed and can provide calm, consistent guidance. Other than that, she walks like a dream!

Tina has been through more than any dog should have to endure, yet she continues to greet the world with kindness and an open heart. She deserves a family who will cherish her, include her, and make sure she never feels forgotten again.

Tina's Ideal Home:

Loving, patient family committed to helping her settle in
No young children preferred
Slow, controlled introductions to resident dogs
Small animals only if safe separation is possible during decompression
Southern California adopters preferred, though transport may be available for an exceptional match
Tina spent months waiting for someone to come back for her. Now she's ready to move forward with a family who will love her for the wonderful dog she is.

Apply: dcdogos.org/adopt
