Tillie's Story

Tillie is such a sweet 8 year old Shepherd mix who was adopted 7 years ago from LRH but her family is moving and cannot take her with them. It's heartbreaking for this sweet girl but we are committed to finding her a wonderful family who will love her forever. She's currently living in Hicksville, Long Island.

Tillie has a lovely temperament and is very affectionate and loves to be with her peeps. She's also very smart and knows lots of commands as you can see in her videos. She doesn't live with another dog now but enjoys playing with them. She absolutely loves to play and relax in her backyard. She's a homebody who doesn't need lots of excitement and will be a great buddy going for walks in the neighborhood or watching TV.

We are looking for a loving family for Tillie because she is a great dog and deserves to be loved unconditionally. She's healthy, up to date on all her vaccinations, house-trained and so ready to give her all your love. Reach out to Long Road Home (lrhrescue@gmail.com or 516-459-3509) to get lots more info and videos of her showing off her tricks and playing in her backyard! And, make plans to meet her soon!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
