Tillie is a sweet, shy mini–Australian Shepherd who is ready for her forever home. She is just under 3 years old, overweight at 30 pounds (she needs to lose another 5-7), and she has a pretty red tri coat. Tillie is housebroken, crate-trained and knows her basic obedience commands. She walks pretty well on leash, although she does startle and jump when she hears a loud noise. She is a good passenger in the car!
Tillie loves woman and she is slowly becoming more comfortable around men. She is a medium-Velcro girl who loves to be close to her humans but she does not get underfoot. Tillie loves her comfy dog bed and that is her “go to” place for naps and her “chew bone time”. Tillie also loves other dogs! She must not have had a lot of experience playing with other dogs and so right now she mostly runs and romps alongside her dog pals, not with them, watching and learning that running and chasing are fun! If another dog initiates play Tillie is up for it, but she has not yet learned how to initiate play herself. Tillie has not been tested with cats but she is obsessed with chasing small creatures.
The ideal home for Tillie is calm, patient and loving, shared with a family who has room in their hearts and time in their lives to show this deserving young girl that her new world is safe and happy. A fenced yard and another playful young dog are important – she has learned so much by playing with other confident, happy dogs.
