TIFFANY's Story
Here is Tiffany's remarkable story

Some lessons leave scars on our hearts.

Some lessons should have been learned so thoroughly that they became nothing more than distant history. Yet here we are again, witnessing preventable suffering that continues to affect the animals who depend on us.

Recently, we witnessed the pain and near loss of a sweet, almost-senior dog. She arrived weak and barely able to stand, her body ravaged by severe anemia and overwhelming toxins. Her eyes told a story of exhaustion, discomfort, and a desperate fight for survival.

The question that haunted everyone involved was simple:
How could this have been prevented?

The answer was equally simple.
She had never been spayed and had become accidentally pregnant. What should have been a normal pregnancy turned into a life-threatening emergency.

The puppies could not pass through her swollen, diseased reproductive tract. They died inside her and became necrotic, triggering a devastating infection that spread toxins throughout her body and began stealing her life.

This tragedy was not caused by a lack of love. More often than not, these situations happen because people underestimate the medical risks associated with leaving a female dog unspayed. Lack of funds to have their pets altered Unfortunately, the consequences can be catastrophic.

Spaying provides significant health benefits that extend far beyond preventing unwanted litters. Some of the most important benefits include:

* Prevention of pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection.
* A significantly reduced risk of mammary cancer, especially when performed early in life.
* Elimination of the risk of uterine and ovarian diseases, including uterine cancer and ovarian tumors, because these organs are removed during the procedure.
* Prevention of unwanted pregnancies and the potentially life-threatening complications that can accompany them.
*
While every dog is an individual, these benefits have helped countless pets live longer, healthier lives. The timing of spaying and any breed-specific considerations should always be discussed with your veterinarian. Every dog is unique, and a veterinarian can help determine the best plan based on age, breed, health history, and lifestyle.
The good news is that this sweet girl received the emergency care she desperately needed. Her story, however, serves as a powerful reminder that prevention is often the greatest gift we can give our pets.
Our dogs trust us to make decisions that protect their health and well-being. They cannot advocate for themselves, so it is our responsibility to understand the risks and take action before a crisis occurs.

Let's honor that trust.

Let's educate ourselves, have honest conversations with our veterinarians, and make informed choices that prioritize the health of our furry family members.
Most importantly, let's do better by the animals who love us unconditionally.

Now that you know her story. This beautiful soul survived her ordeal and recovered and is ready to find a forever home. She does have a heart murmur and will require meds for the rest of her life. She gets along with other dogs and is constantly trying to get them to play with her. She is the sweetest girl there is. She is not house broken but trying to work on that. Tiffany does bark when she gets excited to play with other dogs.

She would be ideal for a family looking for a loving older dog who deserves a second chance at a lifetime of love and a place to rest knowing she is safe.
Tiffany does take two meds to help with her heart murmur and they run roughly about $100 a month. To save her life it cost ARF $7000 to save her life.

Breed Maltipoo
Age 5-8 yrs
Adoption Fee $100

How to Adopt a Dog from ARF
Animal Rescue of Fresno is a Volunteer Managed & Operated Dog Rescue.
We are available by Appointment Only.
Adoptions begin with an Approved Application you can find the application at our website at www.arf-fresno.com

Application can be found in the drop-down menu above, click "ADOPT"
Mobile users click three lines at top of page to see "ADOPT"
Business Hours: By Appointment Only

We will review each submitted application, then contact the approved adopter via email.
