Meet Thia | Smart, Loyal & Looking for Someone to Believe in Her<br/><br/>Thia is a young, 1-year-old Lab/Retriever mix with a huge heart, an even bigger personality, and so much potential. Shelter life has been hard on her, and after spending many months in a kennel, she's feeling the effects of chronic stress. Even so, she remains incredibly affectionate, eager to learn, and deeply devoted to her people.<br/><br/> Loving, Smart & People-Focused<br/><br/>Thia absolutely adores people. She loves affection, enjoys spending time with her favorite humans, and is happiest when she's included in whatever you're doing. She's incredibly intelligent, highly food motivated, and loves learning new things. She already knows several basic commands and thrives when given structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement. She enjoys playing with stuffies and carrying them around like little treasures, and she especially loves water! <br/><br/> Working Hard<br/><br/>Thia has been working with Taryn from Teacher Turned Trainer and has made great progress. She's looking for an adopter who understands that training doesn't stop after adoption and is excited to continue building on everything she's learned.<br/><br/> Reactivity & Training<br/><br/>Thia is reactive to other dogs and passing vehicles on walks. She can bark and lunge when she sees them, so she'll need someone who understands leash reactivity and is committed to continuing her training. Reactivity does not mean aggression, it simply means her environment is overstimulating. She's a strong girl, and her adopter should be comfortable handling an athletic dog while helping her navigate the world with confidence.<br/><br/> Home Life<br/><br/>Shelter stress has also impacted Thia's potty training. She is not currently potty trained, but we're optimistic that with a consistent routine, patience, and the lower stress of a home environment, she'll make great progress.<br/><br/>Her ideal home would include:<br/><br/>* An adopter committed to continuing her training<br/>* A home with space to exercise and explore<br/>* Someone comfortable handling a strong, active dog<br/>* A family willing to give her the time and routine she's been missing<br/>* Older, dog-savvy children may be a good fit<br/>* No other pets- Thia would thrive as your one-and-only<br/><br/>Despite everything she's been through, Thia still greets people with love and hope. She's funny, affectionate, eager to please, and ready for someone to see beyond the shelter environment.
