Theo's Story
Theo is such a sweet boy, who has been waiting for his forever home for quite some time. He is only two years old but is a bit of an old soul He is a 22 pound chi mix who had a pretty horrific start in life. He and many many other small dogs were pulled from a hoarding case where the dogs were locked in a barn and given bare minimum care and very little socialization or love 😞 He is very scared in new situations, at first, , but underneath that fear is a truly sweet boy who just needs time, patience, and gentle love to feel safe. He has a well-controlled medical condition (epilepsy) that is stable and manageable with a very affordable medication. He does best with someone who can give him close attention and is home more often than not. Once he begins to trust, he wants nothing more than to be your constant companion—quietly by your side, soaking up affection and reassurance. Because he’s a leg lifter, he will need consistent, attentive potty breaks and someone willing to help him succeed with routine and supervision. With patience and structure, he can do well. Theo is not a turnkey dog that will fit into any family—but he is a deeply rewarding one. He needs a calm, understanding home that will give him the grace to go at his own pace and show him that people can be kind and dependable. He absolutely loves to chase a tennis ball and that is a quick way to make friends. He is nervous on leash so would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and someone who is willing to work to acclimate him to the leash. If you have room in your heart and home for a dog who just needs a chance, love, and time to bloom, he will repay you with loyalty and devotion. Sometimes the ones who need us the most become the ones we love the deepest. 🐾

If you think you might be interested in adopting Theo or just want to get pre-approved to adopt through us, please fill out an application on our website.
