Thelma (Portland, OR)'s Story

Meet Thelma!

She is a tiny warrior with a massive heart! Orphaned at just one day old, she and her sister, Louise, proved to be absolute fighters. As a Heeler Coonhound mix, she inherited the best of both worlds- brains, loyalty, and a beautifully unique look. Thanks to the tireless love and round-the-clock care of dedicated volunteers, these girls didn't just survive- they are thriving.

Because of their wonderful upbringing, Thelma is a social butterfly and loves people of all ages! She is remarkably well-socialized and has already made friends with people, kids, dogs, cats, and even chickens. She does exceptionally well with other dogs, patiently looking to them for social cues and learning beautifully from their example. Wonderfully happy-go-lucky and eager to learn, traits her clever heeler side loves to show off! Thelma always wants to be near her people and animal friends, and at the same time is remarkably able to self-soothe with her beloved fuzzy bed and favorite stuffy, including settling in for a day at the home office.

She's a true dream puppy. At just 9 weeks, Thelma is already striking the perfect balance: social and independent, playful and respectful, and wholly full of joy and eagerness.

This resilient, brilliant pup is all heart and has so much love to give! Thelma would benefit from joining a family with a playful, friendly resident pup to help show her the ropes, and adopters should be prepared to continue training and socialization for this sweet girl.

Thelma is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her core vaccines. She is being fostered in Portland, OR.

Adoption Process:
- Adoption Application
- Phone Conversation
- Meet & Greet
- Home Visit
- Application Approval
- Adoption Fee & Contract ($490)

Our adoption application is available at pnwcdr.org/adopt.
