Thaddeus's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Forever Home Wanted: Meet Thaddeus!

Thaddeus is a 4–6-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who recently got his second chance at life after surviving on the streets for far too long. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was filthy and severely emaciated, with a body condition score of just 2.5/9. His ribs, spine, and pelvic bones were painfully visible. Yet despite everything he had endured, Thaddeus still earned the best possible behavior score during his exam, which tells you everything you need to know about the heart this boy has.

Now safe in a foster home, Thaddeus — lovingly nicknamed “Theo” — has filled out nicely and is learning what it means to be part of a family. His canine foster siblings have been helping show him the ropes, and he’s doing great settling into home life and daily routines. He truly tries to do the right thing and is developing a fairly consistent recall.

Theo is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and eager to please. He has a loving, almost needy side that makes him especially endearing, and he thrives on connection with his people. While he can still show some fear around new people and experiences, he continues to gain confidence every day. He also experiences some separation anxiety, so he would benefit from a home committed to helping him continue building security and routine.

This boy has the spunk and playful attitude of a much younger dog. He’s active, happy, full of personality, and always ready for adventure. Whether it’s hikes, outdoor activities, or simply snuggling on the couch afterward, Theo is happiest being included with his people.

Thaddeus enjoys the company of other friendly dogs and would likely do well with a canine companion, but what he really wants most is a family to bond closely with. Because he can become a little nippy when overstimulated or excited, he would do best in a home with older children. He has also shown excessive interest in cats, so a cat-free home will be important for him.

This resilient boy has already come so far and is more than ready for the stability, patience, structure, and love he has always deserved.
If you are interested in meeting Thaddeus, please fill out an application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.

Thaddeus is located in Southern California.
