Teletubby's Story

Teletubby — or Tubby, Tubs, Tuby Love, or Tuba Wuba to his friends — is a 9-year-old Pit Bull mix with a big personality and absolutely no concept of personal space.

Tubby came to our shelter on June 22, 2026, after being found abandoned inside a home. He had been left locked in a bedroom, where he had resorted to chewing on the walls trying to escape. We can't explain to him why the people he trusted left him behind, but one thing is certain: it didn't change the way Tubby feels about people. He still loves wholeheartedly and wants nothing more than to be close to his humans.

In fact, being away from people might be his biggest complaint! Tubby has become one of our unofficial office dogs and is happiest when he's hanging out with staff, getting attention and—most importantly—collecting snacks. Put him back in his kennel and he'll make it pretty clear that he did not approve of that decision.

At 9 years young, Tubby still has a goofy, playful side and gets the zoomies with the best of them. The difference is that he's mature enough to know the importance of recovering from all that strenuous activity with a really good nap. He's the perfect mix of silly and laid-back.

Tubby appears to be house-trained, knows how to "sit" and "sit pretty" for a treat, and has perfected the much more advanced trick of making treats disappear almost instantly.

When it comes to other dogs, Tubby is selective about who makes it into his inner circle. He has done well with calm, low-energy or submissive dogs, and a meet and greet would be required with any potential canine sibling. He would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only dog.

What Tubby wants most isn't complicated. He'd love a laid-back home, a comfortable place to nap, plenty of snacks, occasional adventures, and someone who appreciates a mature gentleman with a little extra fluff and a whole lot of personality.

Most of all, he wants his person.

Tubby has watched a lot of dogs leave the shelter with their new families while he continues to wait. He's one of our longest residents and shelter life is beginning to wear on a dog who thrives on human companionship. Our staff does everything we can to give him extra time, attention and love, but we can't give him the one thing he really needs: a home of his own.

After being left behind once already, we'd really like the next door Tubby walks through to be one he never has to leave again.

Come give this big boy a chance. Stop by our shelter during open hours to meet him!
