Teggy's Story

Meet Teggy!

Teggy is a 5–6-year-old Great Pyrenees who is looking for the right place to call home.

Teggy was found roaming by some good Samaritans. After numerous posts were made trying to find his owner, sadly, not a single person came forward for him. The kind people who found him cared for him for a little while before bringing him to the shelter.

Teggy definitely enjoys being outside, and as a Great Pyrenees, his breed and natural instincts are important to consider. We don’t know if he has ever worked as a farm or livestock guardian dog, but anyone interested in Teggy should understand the breed and be prepared for the unique needs and instincts that come with a Great Pyrenees.

Teggy does know some general manners, including sit and paw. He is not the best at walking on a leash and much prefers having the freedom to roam around our fenced-in play yard. One of his favorite things to do is find a sunny spot, stretch out, and enjoy a good sunbathing session!

Teggy is not fond of cats, so a cat-free home would be best. He has not yet had a meet-and-greet with other dogs, so we don’t know how he will do with canine companions.

Teggy is not your typical house pet, and we’re looking for a home that truly understands and appreciates what a Great Pyrenees is bred to be. His ideal placement will be one where he has plenty of appropriate outdoor space and a family who understands his independent nature and guardian instincts.
