Teddy - active boy's Story
Meet Teddy!

Teddy is a nearly 2-1/2-year-old, 26 lb. Rat Terrier and adventure lover who needs to find a good home soon. His current home environment has a younger slightly pushy male dog who is just too much for Teddy, and we’re stepping in to help him find an easier home situation.

Teddy is a very healthy boy. His person has been taking him to a good force-free trainer, which he really enjoys.

He LOVES to be outside! He gets frequent runs, walks and hikes, he enjoys going skiing and mountain biking, and he even goes climbing with a harness (see his photos). It’s important that his adopter(s) are active where they can bring him along with them on adventures.

Teddy enjoys regular play dates with his local doggie pals and loves to play. He gets along very well with almost all dogs — especially female dogs, smaller dogs, and submissive dogs (if they’re larger than him). He has great off-leash recall skills, and although he occasionally pulls if his leash is cliipped on his collar, he doesn’t pull when the leash is clipped in front of his harness.

When he’s back at home he loves to snuggle and is a world-class cuddle bug! He’ll curl up by the wood burning stove for an adorable snuggle bunny nap.
Teddy can be shy around people he doesn’t yet know but his overall behavior is really good.

Teddy has interacted on a limited basis with kids and so far he’s done well. But we’d be hesitant to rehome him with a younger child only because of his lack of experience and timidness around handling. He is unknown with cats.

Teddy is truly a great dog. He’ll appropriately alert-bark with strangers approaching the house but otherwise is pretty quiet. He’s awesome on long car rides and road trips, loves to be near his handler and will do best in a home where he’s not left alone all day. He’s housetrained and crate-trained and loves his crate. He’s food-motivated and easy to train.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Teddy, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
