Teddy's Story

Meet Teddy!

This handsome 6-year-old boy is incredibly sweet and ready to find the right home to help him thrive.

Teddy had been with his family since he was a puppy. Due to escalating health issues within the household, his owners are no longer able to provide Teddy with the time, structure, exercise, and full-time care he deserves.

Teddy comes from working lines and has the drive and focus often seen in working German Shepherds. His owners shared that one of his male littermates serves as a K9 with a local police department. Teddy is smart, eager to please, and very trainable, but he needs an experienced home that understands the unique needs of a working-line GSD.

Teddy is a very friendly, affectionate, and handsome boy who enjoys being with people. He would benefit from continued training, socialization, and consistency. While Teddy is not yet a Canine Good Citizen, he has a lot of potential in the right environment.

Teddy has a high prey drive, enjoys chasing wildlife, and is not suitable for a home with cats. With proper introductions, we believe he could do well with another dog. In fact, in Teddys former home he played with his mother and sibling, who lived next door.

Because Teddy has spent much of his life roaming loose on a rural property and has not had consistent leash work, he will need continued training to improve his leash manners. He is a large, strong dog who requires confident leadership, structure, and guidance. His previous owners told us, they had been somewhat lenient, and Teddy had not always received the boundaries or physical activity he needs.

Teddy would do best in an active, breed-experienced home that can provide him with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, training, and structure. He is a very nice dog... sweet, friendly, good-looking, and willing to please who simply needs the right home to bring out his full potential.

Could Teddy be the loyal companion you've been looking for?

https://gsrne.org/our-available-dogs/
