Taz's Story
Hi there! I’m Taz, a 4–5-year-old mix of Belgian Malinois, Australian Kelpie, and Flat-Coated Retriever — but most importantly, I’m a certified good boy with a big heart. I weigh about 45 lbs and have come a long way from my early days in a tough shelter in Ensenada, Mexico. The Cantu Foundation rescued me, and my personality and determination to thrive have shined ever since.

What makes me special:
• Resilient & Loving: I had a rough start, but with patience and reassurance I’ve blossomed into a cuddly, loyal, and affectionate companion.
• Adventurous Sidekick: I love car rides (my safe spot!), outdoor play, and staying active with my people.
• Smart Cookie: I pick up new commands quickly and have even figured out how to open doors!
• Good with Friends: I get along with other dogs after proper introductions and do just fine with cats.

I can be sensitive about crates and being left alone, but I’m making great progress with guidance, consistency, and a little extra support. I also have a slight limp from old injuries, but it doesn’t slow me down — I can run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Leash training is still a work in progress, especially when other dogs are around, but with tools like a gentle leader I’m improving every day. And while water isn’t really my thing (rain and baths included), I love wipe-downs and brushing sessions.

My dream home:
A yard for my antics, an active person for walks and adventures, and a family who understands that building confidence with alone time takes patience. In return, I’ll be your loyal shadow and best friend.

My adoption fee is $300, which includes vaccinations, neuter, and microchip. If you’re looking for a smart, loving companion who’s always up for an adventure (or a cuddle), I might be the perfect match! Apply to adopt me at thecantufoundation.org.
