Tawny's Story

Meet Tawny!

This sweetheart was found as a stray and ended up in a county shelter on the euthanasia list. She was thankfully rescued just in time — and now shes finally getting the chance she deserves.

Despite everything shes been through, Tawny is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. Her favorite thing in the world is being loved on. She absolutely melts for pets and attention, and once she trusts you, shell happily shower you with hugs and kisses.

Tawny can be a little nervous around men at first and is still learning that people can be kind and safe, but she warms up quickly with patience and gentleness. Underneath her timid moments is an incredibly loving girl who just wants to feel secure and adored.

She would likely do wonderfully in a home with another friendly dog to help build her confidence and show her the ropes. More than anything, Tawny deserves a family that will be patient with her heart and give her the love shes always deserved.

Tawny recently spent the weekend at a volunteer's home and was the perfect houseguest! She played wonderfully with the resident dog and would thrive with another active, playful canine companion. She has lots of energy and loves doing zoomies around the yard, especially if someone is chasing her during playtime. During her stay, Tawny also got to meet neighborhood kids and did great with them. She can still be a little wary around men and is shy at first, but shes getting braver every single day. In just one weekend, her foster family saw her start to relax and come out of her shell. Tawny walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and was an absolute superstar in the home. She didnt have a single accident in the house or crate the entire weekend. She slept soundly in her crate overnight without making a peep. This sweet girl loves shredding toys, giving hugs, and being close to her people. While she can still be easily spooked at times, she is making incredible progress and just needs a patient family willing to help her continue building confidence. Tawny has so much love to give and is sure to make a very lucky family incredibly happy.

After all shes survived, its finally Tawnys turn to be someones best friend.

Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! ***

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
We do request vet and personal references.
We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
Adoption through STAF includes full vetting of the dogs, including a spay/neuter at 6 months (female)/9month (male) maximum.
