Tasha's Story

Meet Tasha
Tasha is a young adult Husky mix, about two years old, with all the enthusiasm and charm her breed is known for. Huskies are typically active, bright, and social dogs who thrive in homes that can engage both their minds and bodies.

Although she came to us as a stray and her background is a mystery, she’s quickly shown her true colors. Tasha is affectionate, loyal, playful, and very well socialized. She may take a little time to warm up at first, but once she does, her sweet and engaging personality really shines. She loves spending time with people, enjoys interacting with other dogs, and forms strong bonds with those she trusts.

She especially loves playing fetch, responds well to direction, and is very food-motivated, which makes her both fun and rewarding to work with. She also walks nicely on leash and doesn’t pull, making outings with her easy and enjoyable.

Tasha in a Home
Tasha had a few sleepovers with a volunteer and was an absolute delight in the home. She is perfectly house-trained, with no indoor accidents and consistent, immediate pottying when taken outside. She showed no destructiveness, leaving all shoes and household items untouched. She was impressively quiet, with no barking or howling—even when other dogs were audible outside.

In the car, Tasha was slightly hesitant at first but quickly gained confidence and rode well. Although understandably a bit energized due to her age and being in a new environment, she was well-mannered and unobtrusive, happily settling in her dog bed and relaxing for most of the time.

Training & Support
Tasha generally listens very well and picks up on direction quickly, making her a great candidate for continued training. She’s eager to learn and thrives with positive reinforcement, especially when treats are involved.

Like many young, energetic dogs, she can sometimes get a bit mouthy or jump up when excited, but these are very typical behaviors that respond well to consistent guidance and structure. With continued training and clear expectations, she will continue to grow into a wonderfully well-mannered companion.

Ideal Home
Tasha would flourish in a home that can provide structure, activity, and companionship. She would especially enjoy living with another friendly, playful dog who can match her energy and help her burn it off in a positive way. Daily exercise is important for her—whether that’s walks, hiking adventures, yard play, or enrichment games—to help her stay happy and balanced.

Because she’s young and enthusiastic, a home with adults or older children who understand playful, sometimes exuberant behavior would be ideal. Tasha has not yet been tested with cats.

With patience, consistency, and plenty of affection, Tasha is ready to become a fun, devoted, and joyful addition to her future family.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ready to Apply?

If you would like to meet Tasha, please download an application from our website at:

vancouver.ca/adoption-form

Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: 12 +
Cats: Unknown
Dogs: Yes
Training Needs: Some manners need a little work
Adoption Fee: $391

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
