Tasha's Story
My name is Tasha and I am a 6 year old female Husky. I love to play with small dogs, as they don't threaten me. I am still recovering from a bad past where I was abused. I have learned to trust my Foster family, their pack, and most people in general, now. I have a very even demeanor, and I am very gentle with everyone. While in Foster care I have filled out and regained my weight and strength. My best buddy is Charlie the Terrier. He loves to play with me, and I with him. I can spend an hour or more just playing, chasing and having fun with him. I also love to splash in the wading pool. My foster parents take us out to the Dog Park and I enjoy playing with the smaller dogs and trotting along with my pack. I am not intimidated with the bigger dogs, but just don't relate to them. We also go into the Pet Stores, and the Home Building Stores , and I like smelling the plants and flowers at Calloways Nursery.

From the Foster Dad: Tasha is the sweetest dog we have ever had. She would not hurt a fly, and does not have an aggressive bone in her body. Tasha is still going through some challenges mentally and physically in her recovery period. However, she has made great progress and is such a sweetheart. We are working with her to get over her now infrequent mental "shut down periods". She has learned to trust, and knows she is no longer in danger, or under any threat. She is still startled by sudden louder noises and quick movements, but is not running away to hide anymore. Tasha loves to play with little dogs and splash in water. While she does come inside, she likes to be outside and enjoys her free time in privacy under a tree or shrub. She would love to curl up at someone's feet on the carpet.

Tasha would not do well with Children under age 13, and is not a match for an active lifestyle. Tasha would do great with a person or couple, to cuddle up with and soak up the petting and massaging she so deserves. She does need to be motivated to get exercise, and having a small playful (non-aggressive) dog is a plus for her. She does not go on "walks", as she does not see the point. She does enjoy going other places, but they need to be to consistent places so she gains comfort and confidence going to them. Tasha is getting over an eye infection and is currently on eye drops for awhile. Tasha is a loving dog that needs to have a person or family that is sensitive to her condition, but not "baby" or feel sorry for her. She has made great progress in the past few weeks by being softly challenged. She will continue improving with someone who continues to work with her with patience. Tasha is so sweet to have had a hard life up to a few months ago. It will be hard to give her up to someone else, but she needs a good permanent home.
