If you are interested in meeting her please call 913-321-1445 or email petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment.

Meet Tara! This sweet girl has already shown what a devoted mama she is. When she gave birth outdoors, she tucked her puppies safely into a den inside a tree until rescuers brought them all to safety. Now her puppies are safe, and it’s Tara’s turn to find a cozy place to call home.

Tara may be shy at first, but once she settles in, her goofy, sweet side comes out. She loves snuggling on the couch, with occasional zoomies before she stretches out for another cozy nap. She’s mostly housebroken, gets along with other dogs, and is curious about cats. With slow, proper introductions, she may do well with a feline friend, too.

Tara isn’t a big fan of the leash, so a fenced yard would be a great fit. She’s a strong girl who still likes to mouth hands during play, so older children would be best. She’s been doing well without a kennel in her foster home, so kennel training is still an unknown.

Tara is quiet, sleeps peacefully through the night, and seems happiest when she feels safe and comfy. Could your couch be her next favorite spot?

Tara is in a foster home, but would love a home of her very own!!

Tara is a 2 year old Boxer/Pit Bull and she weighs 45 lbs.

ADOPTING A DOG
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).

If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.

We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. Please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofKCKAS/ for more info about weekend adoption hours, events and available pets.

We are open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.

FOSTERING
Can't commit to adoption but still want to help us save lives? Consider fostering by filling out our foster application at https://www.kckpd.org/Animal-Services/Foster-a-Pet. All supplies are provided.
