Taquito's Story
Are you looking for a shadow? A best friend? A tiny, taco-sized assistant who believes that your feet are the best place to nap? Meet Taquito! 🌮

Taquito doesn’t just live with you; he exists with you. Taquito is a master of navigating around your ankles. As a tiny Velcro dog, he will make sure you never walk alone again!

He is an adorable, spunky dog who is around 5 years old and 7 lbs. He loves to get pet, gives sneak kisses, likes to chew bones, and play with dog toys. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and cats, but would do fine as an only pet as well. He is very quiet and the only time he barks is occasionally after he eats. He likes to give his compliments to the chef!

He loves blankets and will drag them all around the house and to his dog bed to make a little nest. He likes to collect toys, blankets, and anything else he can find to add to his dog bed. He is such a character!

His adoption fee is $300.

If you are interested in adopting there is an application below: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

His video shows his rescue and the situation he came from in Texas. He grew up with three siblings and was sadly abandoned. When his sisters went to another rescue, it took him a little time to adjust to being alone—but he’s made amazing progress.

His YouTube from his rescue to first day in foster home as he was adjusting: https://youtube.com/shorts/x98M0fj2eQk?feature=share

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters in Texas or straight off the streets in South Texas where there are packs of stray dogs running loose. Your fee covers the significant costs of bringing them to safety. Your adoption fee covers: spay/neuter (if old enough), transport fees getting the dogs from Texas to our fosters homes here (that ALONE is $200-$230 per dog), core vaccines, heartworm test (If old enough), deworming, and microchip.

We partner with VCA Animal Hospitals. With every adoption comes a complimentary First Exam at any participating VCA location within the first 14 days of adoption. Follow-up Care Coverage: VCA provides limited health guarantee coverage (up to $250) for specific minor illnesses (like kennel cough or ear infections) diagnosed during that initial 14-day window.

We do not guarantee the breed of any of our dogs or how big they will be when they are fully grown. The breed listed is typically a guess based off of appearance or personality traits. We cannot guarantee that any dog is not mixed with pit. This is a standard part of adopting a dog from rescue.

We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized.
