Tank

Meet Tank. He was found on the streets as a young dog with a chain wrapped around and embedded in his neck. It had to be surgically removed. He was originally adopted by his rescuers, with whom he lived happily until both died unexpectedly. Family members “took care of him” by locking him in his dead owners’ empty house - alone - only interacting with him once a day to provide food and water, and never allowing him outside - for over a year. Eventually, they took him to a vet and asked the vet to euthanize him at only 8 years old. The vet refused and asked a rescue to help Tank. <br/><br/>By this time, Tank was terrified of everything and everyone. He remains fearful, but has relaxed in his foster home and bonded with the whole family. Based on this, the foster believes Tank will begin to relax after a week or so once he knows that he is safe, and the bond with his humans will grow very strong as they spend more time together. <br/><br/>Tank requires space and to be allowed to approach the humans on his terms. Once he accepts that he is safe, he is very loving and affectionate. He doesn’t like to go on walks or leave his house and yard, but he would probably enjoy this in time once he knew he wouldn’t be abandoned. <br/><br/>Tank loves treats, and he will sit politely to wait for one. He’s uncertain if he is allowed on the furniture, so he will wait to be invited before he jumps on the couch at first. After that first invitation, he will make himself at home and cuddle up for a nap. Tank is house trained, but living in foster care with multiple dogs has been distracting. He will need to be reminded of his house training skills and taught the house rules. <br/><br/>Despite all the sad things that this precious guy has experienced, Tank is a happy little guy. He if friendly to other dogs and to people he knows. He is appreciative of every kind of affection. You’ll always know when Tank is happy or excited because he dances!<br/><br/>Tank wants a home where he can live in happiness for the rest of his days. He would be fun as the only pet, or with other dogs.
