Tank's Story
TANK HAS ARRIVED IN WISCONSIN

Tank was in a Georgia shelter and made his way to Wisconsin on October 3.

Meet Tank

Tank is a 9-year-old, 43-pound boy who has had a very rough start to life. He came from a horrible hoarding situation where he had essentially been living by himself inside a part of the house that was piled high with garbage and filth. He had an open door, but very little interaction with the outside world. When Tank arrived at the shelter, it was almost as if he didn’t even know other dogs existed.
Understandably, Tank has been very uncomfortable around other dogs. At first, he was constantly looking for a way to get away from them. He isn’t mean or aggressive—he simply learned to exist on his own and has always preferred his own space.

But Tank is starting to discover that being around people and other dogs can actually be pretty fun!

The shelter has been patiently socializing him, and he has been making progress. He can now interact and play with some of the other dogs at the shelter. When he's had enough, he will take a break and wander off to do his own thing in the play yard. He's done great meeting and interacting with some of the puppies and was very sweet with them. He has also started playing with the volunteers, doing little zoomies, playing chase, and discovering that balls are pretty great.

Watching Tank slowly come out of his shell has been so rewarding. There is a fun, sweet dog underneath all those years of simply surviving, and he is beginning to show more and more of that personality.

Tank will need a patient adopter or foster who understands that he has a lot of catching up to do. He will likely need help with potty training and continued confidence-building, but he is okay on a leash and is already showing what a nice guy he really is.

Tank deserves the chance to actually live—to have a soft bed, a loving person, some patience, and the opportunity to discover all the things he has been missing.

Age: 9 years
Gender: Male (neutered)
Weight: 43 lbs
Breed: Lab mix
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Potty Trained: Not sure
Crate Trained: Unsure
Leash Manners: Okay
Good with Dogs: Some calm dogs; prefers his own space
Good with Cats: No
Good with Kids: Not tested yet

Tank doesn’t need someone to expect him to become a completely different dog overnight. He just needs someone willing to give him time, patience, and a little TLC. Deep down, there is a fun and loving dog waiting to shine, and we would love to give Tank the chance to finally experience the good life he has always deserved.
If you think Tank would be a great addition to your family, please apply today!
www.muttlife.org
