Tamale's Story
Tamale, a 5-7 year old long haired Chihuahua mix, arrived at the shelter as a stray with-get this- a pink tail! Someone must have cared for her before arriving here, but sadly, no one has come forward to claim her. Tamale is now spayed and ready to find her new forever home! Despite her delicate, striking looks, Tamale seems to be relatively low maintenance. Our vision for Tamale is simple- a quiet living room to curl up in at night, maybe a leisurely stroll through a park, and ideally with a single woman as she can take a bit to warm up to men (she likely wouldn't mind a personal wardrobe as well...). Tamale lights up around women but will eventually warm up to me given some time and patience- because of this, we are not recommending her for a home with children. She enjoys the company of other dogs, is low-key and affectionate, and seems to be housebroken to boot! If you would like to learn more about Tamale, please call us at 516-869-6311.

*Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you.

Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability.
