Talia's Story

This may be Talia's second time with us, but let's make it her last! Adopted as Dakota in early 2025, this 3-year-old girl had to make her way back after her adopter experienced medical complications. Now, she's hoping her third home is the charm.

Talia is obviously a beautiful purebred German Shepherd, but she's so much more than her looks, with potential for miles to be a faithful companion, loving sidekick and certified good girl. She may come off as a bit barky if meeting new people while in her kennel, but when she's out from behind a barrier with a little time to warm up, she's just a playful, lovey girl. She'd benefit from an active home that can provide her the attention, patience and training she craves to be the best dog she can be. She's good with most other dogs, and is making friends quickly here. She has been good but curious with the cats here, but did want to chase them in her former home. She would likely be good with older kids, but can get excited and could potentially accidentally knock little ones down. Talia is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: 1) Fill out an application on our website at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt. Please note that submitting an inquiry through PetFinder or other online listing does not constitute an adoption application. Applications can also be downloaded as a pdf and emailed to secondchanceas@yahoo.com or filled out at the sanctuary any time we're open. 2) We will process your application by calling your veterinarian and personal references. How long this takes depends on how quickly we can reach them. You can help expedite this process by letting them know we'll be calling from the number 570-376-3646. We may also call you to ask additional questions or to share pertinent information about the animal you've applied for. 3) We will inform you of your application's status, usually in a few days to a week. Even if the animal you hoped to adopt goes to another home, you still may be approved to adopt another animal. We attempt to match animals to homes that best fit their personality/needs and vice versa. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
