Meet Takoda! This handsome Husky mix was rescued from the California fires in January 2025 after a very difficult start that left him so shut down he would curl up in the corner and try to make himself as small as possible. He later found himself in an unsafe rescue situation before eventually making his way to Arctic Rescue. Now, Takoda is finally safe, beginning to heal, and learning that people can be trusted.<br/><br/>With time, patience, and fosters willing to let him move at his own pace, Takoda has made incredible progress. Today, he enjoys affection from the people he trusts, takes treats, loves spending time with other dogs, and has made huge strides with handling, leashing, and car rides.<br/><br/>Takoda loves playing with other dogs—especially a good game of chase—and would do best with female dogs or mellow male dogs who respect his play style. He does have a strong prey drive, so he needs a home without cats or other small animals.<br/><br/>Takoda is still a sensitive boy who will thrive with a patient, experienced, and understanding family committed to continued training and confidence-building.
