TAJ's Story

WATCH MY VIDEO...At 6 years old, sweet Taj never expected to find himself starting all over again. His family moved into a home that did not allow larger dogs, so their 70-pound boy could not come with them. Now Taj is at the shelter, waiting and hoping another family will open their home and hearts to him. It’s especially heartbreaking because Taj already knows exactly how to be a wonderful family dog. He is potty trained, walks great on a leash, comes when he is called, knows how to sit and listens very well. He has lived with children, does well with other dogs and is described by our Dog Pals as friendly, affectionate, happy and an incredibly sweet boy. Taj really gives you the best of both worlds! He loves getting out for walks and being part of whatever you’re doing, but he is equally happy embracing his couch potato side and relaxing with his people. He loves affection and treats, and at 6 years young, he still has so much love and life ahead of him. The one thing Taj does NOT understand is cats. He likes to bark at them, so this big guy would be happiest in a kitty-free home. While Taj has been with us, we also discovered some urinary issues that have improved with a prescription diet. He will need to remain on his special food and continue routine veterinary care, but otherwise he is a very happy boy who is ready to get back to being someone’s beloved companion. We know an older, 70-pound dog who needs special food may not be the first one everyone notices, but we hope someone will stop long enough to see what we see. Taj had a home, knows how to be part of a family and did nothing wrong to lose the life he knew. He deserves a couch to curl up on, people to follow around and a family who will love him for all the wonderful years he still has ahead of him. Please help us find Taj his second chance. To meet him, complete the pre-adoption application and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Our adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. If you can’t adopt Taj, please share him. His new family could be you.
