Tadpole's Story
Meet our lil' Tadpole.

Tiny guy.
Big heart.
No tail!

This little guy came to us in July severely malnourished and fighting a heavy parasite load. His tail had been docked severely and had an open, oozing wound upon intake. As his health has steadily improved, his personality has really started to shine with every ounce of weight gained despite this sad start to life.

Tadpole is approximately 3 months old and has been neutered recently.

We suspect he is a working dog mix of some sort, including blue heeler possibly but the reality is he could be any mix of breeds.

He does have a LOT of working drive already, is whip smart, and listens to basic commands from his foster family. He know how to sit. Give paw. Lay down. Stay (for a bit!). And to go to bed in his crate. Tadpole walks well on a leash and loves car rides.

He is a high energy pup that rarely lays around and prefers to be actively engaged with his human or another dog around the clock.

He would do best in a home that will continue his training in a serious manner to keep his mind engaged and direct his energy correctly.

If you have ever had a working dog, he may be the little guy for you.
He can certainly thrive in an active city home that is committed to his ongoing need to drive and herd things (and sometimes people).

While he is a precious , smart boy, Tadpole does need a home that understands his behaviors now are not going to go away when the puppy stage wears off- but rather be willing to embrace his herding instincts in a firm and loving way through ongoing & dedicated training.

He is currently fostered with an adult heeler that he takes correction from quickly, and is leashed walked and worked with twice a day. He is ALL puppy right now and will challenge and nip play with any dogs in the household that allow it. So dogs with some reserve and patience would be required for him to come into a family successfully.

Tadpole respects cats very well at this time, and was also fostered with his very own kitten for 6 weeks!

His foster mom would love to chat with you and see if Tadpole may fit into your family.

https://www.woodstockanimalfoundation.org/adopt-a-dog/

Location is lexington ky
