Tabitha's Story
Meet Tabitha!

The Little Witch Who’s Casting a Spell on Your Heart

Age: 5
Weight: 8 lbs
Breed: Mini Poodle
Fostered in: Waukesha, Wisconsin

Tabitha is a tiny puppy mill survivor with a big heart, soulful eyes, and the cutest little white socks. After coming from one of Wisconsin’s worst puppy mills, she's learning that life in a home can be pretty wonderful. Soft beds, furry friends, cozy couches, and people who are willing to give her the time she needs? Now that’s a little bit of magic.

She's curious, smart, and always taking in her surroundings. New things can make her a little nervous, but don't mistake her caution for a lack of courage. Tabitha just likes to take her time figuring things out. It took her three whole days to get comfortable walking on wood floors, and now she cruises around like she's lived there forever!

Once she decides something is safe, she's ready to move on to the next adventure. She's playful, affectionate, cuddly, and has a wonderfully silly side. And when she's excited (or sometimes a little nervous), she'll shake her tiny booty. Clearly, Tabitha believes in dancing her way through life!

Tabitha LOVES other dogs and, if we're being honest, sometimes prefers their company to ours. She gets along with dogs ranging from about 4 to 30 pounds and absolutely needs a calm, confident canine companion in her forever home. Having a furry friend to show her the ropes helps her feel safe and learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

She's also good with cats! Tabitha can live with respectful children over age five, although a quieter home without young children is best. Little ones under five may be fine for short visits, but their energy would likely be overwhelming for her day to day.

Her favorite activities include:

Practicing her little booty-shaking dance moves

Hanging out with her dog friends and learning from them

Snuggling up in a cozy bed or on the couch

Exploring new things at her own pace

Showing off her adorable white socks and soulful eyes

Practicing her magic spells to find a family who will love her just as she is

Tabitha is a smart girl who has already picked up her house manners quickly. She's housebroken when kept on a routine and knows important words like “up,” “outside,” “go potty,” and, of course, “GOOD GIRL!”

She's still learning to trust people and feel comfortable with all the little things that come with being a family pet. She can be nervous around both men and women at first, but with patience and kindness, she continues to make progress. She's not being difficult; she's simply learning a whole new way of life, and she's trying her best.

Tabitha currently sleeps in an X pen in her foster parents' bedroom to help build trust and confidence. She's not a fan of traditional crates, and who can blame her after her past? She's open to snuggling in bed with her people, too, once she's ready.

She's moderately active but also appreciates a good couch-potato afternoon. She'll bark when someone comes to the door, but otherwise, she's a pretty typical little dog. Rescue Remedy can help when she's feeling overstimulated or stressed, though she only needs it occasionally.

Tabitha's dream home

Tabitha needs a calm, confident canine sibling. This is a must! A securely fenced yard would be wonderful because she hasn't started leash training yet. A family with someone home much of the day, who can continue helping her build confidence and establish a routine, would be ideal. With close supervision, a secure tie-out may also be an option for outdoor time.

She'll need a family that understands progress doesn't always happen overnight. Tabitha may take a little longer to warm up to new people, places, and experiences, but she wants to learn and is brave enough to keep trying.

Tabitha is looking for a loving home to practice her love spells. She is working on the perfect enchantment to make her future family fall head over heels for her. The spell requires patience, kindness, understanding, and a little time for her to figure things out. The good news? She's already working her magic.

Tabitha has spent a long time without the kind of life every dog deserves. Now she's learning that she can be safe, loved, and understood. She doesn't need someone to rush her or expect her to be fearless. She needs someone who will celebrate the little victories, give her room to grow, and let her blossom at her own pace.

In return, you'll get a clever, sweet little girl with soulful eyes, adorable socks, and a booty shake that could brighten anyone's day.

Could you be the one Tabitha has been practicing her spells for? She's ready to find a family who will give her the time she needs to trust, the canine companion she depends on, and the forever home where she can finally be someone's beloved little girl.

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
