Syd’s FAQs

What is Antioch Animal Services’s adoption process?

To reduce waiting times, services at the Antioch Animal Shelter are offered on an appointment basis. This includes pet adoptions. If you have questions about a pet you see online, and/or you want to schedule a Meet & Greet with one of our adoptable pets, please contact us at 925-779-6989 to make an appointment. If you are adopting a dog and have other dogs in the household, we recommend you bring them with you to your appointment, to ensure compatibility. All adopters must present Government Issued Identification at time of adoption. Everyone is welcome to adopt a pet from Antioch Animal Services. You do NOT have to be a resident of Antioch. However, if you are an Antioch resident, and you adopt a dog, you are required to purchase a 1-year dog license for $25.00, at the time of adoption. ADOPTION FEES: Cats: $90.00 adoption fee – This fee includes having the cat surgically altered at the animal shelter, the FVRCP vaccination fee, Rabies vaccination fee (if the cat is over 4 months old), and the microchip fee. There will be an additional charge at the Veterinarian for the cost of the spay/neuter if it is necessary to send the animal outside the shelter for the surgery. (Office staff will go over these fees with you.) Dogs: $125.00 adoption fee – This fee includes having the dog surgically altered at the animal shelter, the DHPP vaccination fee, the Bordetella vaccination fee, the Rabies vaccination fee (if the dog is over 4 months old), and the microchip fee. There may be an additional charge at the Veterinarian for the cost of the spay/neuter if it is necessary to send the animal outside the shelter for the surgery. Rabbits: $16.00 adoption fee. Hamsters, other small animals: $7.00 adoption fee. For more information about pet adoption, contact Antioch Animal Services at 925-779-6989 or email us at antiochanimalservices@gmail.com
