Sybil's Story

Sybil
1 year 8 months
30 lbs
Spayed

Sybil is the definition of a gentle soul. Quiet, shy, and incredibly sweet, she’s the kind of dog who may take a little time to trust—but once she does, she blossoms into the most loving, snuggly companion. Around those she feels safe with, she turns into a total “teddy bear,” with the softest fur and a heart that just wants to be close to you.

Sybil is fully house trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home. She’s great about letting you know when she needs to go out—if the dog door is closed, she’ll patiently sit by it and wait. She’s also crate trained and truly sees her crate as a safe haven. When things get too loud or busy, she’ll retreat there to relax or even enjoy her meals in peace.

She has a medium energy level and a very thoughtful, cautious nature. While she’s still building confidence with people, she absolutely thrives with other dogs. In fact, having a canine companion is essential for her—she became noticeably happier and more relaxed once she had another dog by her side. She enjoys the company of both similar-sized and larger dogs, though she prefers calmer play and can get overwhelmed if things become too energetic.

Sybil is incredibly sweet and gentle—she wouldn’t hurt a fly. She does best in a quieter home where there isn’t a lot of sudden movement or loud noise, as those things can startle her. When she’s unsure, she may retreat rather than react, and she has shown no signs of aggression, including around food.
She’s also quite the quiet girl! She rarely barks, though she may softly join in if her dog friends are alerting to something.

Like many young dogs, Sybil is still learning what’s hers to chew—and what isn’t. Socks, shoes, and even remotes have been fair game in the past, but she’s making great progress with redirection and positive reinforcement. She’s starting to seek out her chew toys on her own, proudly taking them to the couch to enjoy.

On leash, Sybil is still building confidence. She can be startled by unfamiliar sounds or people, so she’ll need a patient adopter willing to help her feel safe as she learns the world isn’t so scary.

At home, her favorite things are snuggling up close, giving gentle kisses, and exploring the backyard—especially alongside her dog friends. Storms and rain can be scary for her, so she’ll look to her trusted person for comfort and reassurance during those moments.
Sybil is looking for a calm, loving home with at least one other friendly dog and a patient human who will give her the time she needs to feel secure. In return, she’ll give you a lifetime of quiet companionship, soft snuggles, and unconditional love.

If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion to grow with, Sybil might just be your perfect match.

Interested in adopting? If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, we’d schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home.

Questions about adoption?
