Scotland County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Always check our website www.scotlandhumane.org for adoptable cats and dogs also! The first step in our adoption process is to complete an online application through our website or in person during normal business hours. We will check your references, including landlord approval and your veterinarian. All current animals in the home must be spayed or neutered if old enough. We may schedule a home visit. We will notify you if your application is approved, denied or incomplete. If approved, we will work with you to find the best match from our available animals for your lifestyle. If we do not find a good match, we will add you to our waiting list and notify you when a perfect match becomes available. Please answer all questions on the application, or we will be unable to process your application until it is complete. Typically, you will not see small dogs or puppies listed as we have a waiting list. Dog adoption fee is $125.00. Cat adoption fee is $75.00. Our available animals will be spayed/neutered before going home (or an appointment will be set up once they are old enough to be) as well as microchipped, have received initial vaccines, including rabies(if old enough), along with treatment for intestinal worms, fleas and flea prevention.
