Sweet Pea's Story

Like my name says, I am a Sweet Pea. I love cuddles and lap time more than anything else. They tell me I was born in June, 2019. That makes me about 7 years 4 months old and I weigh about 8 lbs. In April 2025 I came from El Paso to a different rescue in ALBQ. Later I was adopted but then the lady decided after 2 months that she didn’t want me. She just didn’t like me. I don’t know why. Since the rescue wouldn’t take me back, the lady abandoned me at a doggie day care. One of the workers there gave me to her brother who had me for about 6 months. They said they were gone 13-14 hours a day and couldn’t provide care for me. So now I’m in a foster home looking for my permanent home. I really don’t like all this bouncing around.

I can get really excited and then I do my little dance when my person comes home, when my food is being fixed, or when I want a treat. Sometimes I talk a little then as well. I’m still learning to be gentle taking treats. It’s hard because I get so excited. I am house trained and use the doggie door. I eat separate from the other dogs; like to sleep at night under the covers; and I ride calmly in my travel crate in the car. I don’t really care for toys. I’m much more interested in my person. It’s the same with the other dogs here. I get along OK with them, but being with my person is where I want to be – laying beside them, cuddling on their lap, or following them around the house. Do you have a lap for me?
