Swartz's Story
Meet Swartz 🤍

At just 1.5 years old and around 45 lbs, Swartz is a gentle, soulful boy who is still learning what it truly means to be a dog. Likely a hound mix (just our best guess!), he has a quiet and shy nature—but beneath that is an incredibly sweet, loving heart just waiting to fully shine.

Swartz came to us from a large hoarding situation in Flint, where over 60+ animals were removed from an overwhelmed and neglectful home. When he first arrived, he was absolutely terrified of the world around him. Simple things—like a leash or human touch—were overwhelming. He would crocodile roll in fear, run away at any opportunity, and even urinate when approached.

Fast forward just over two months in foster care, and the transformation is nothing short of incredible. Those who met Swartz in his early days truly wouldn’t believe the progress he’s made.

Today, Swartz chooses connection. He will come up for affection (sometimes shyly, but willingly!) and has learned that human touch can be safe—and even enjoyable. He’s discovered toys, loves to romp around the yard with his canine friends, and has started showing off his goofy, playful side.

He walks beautifully on a leash, rides well in the car (though he may still drool a little), and even hops in on his own now! In the home, — he has done great going potty outside and he’s taken to sleeping at the end of the bed at night. One of his favorite things is simply being near his people, often choosing to lay across your feet or legs while you relax.

Swartz is currently fostered with other dogs, cats, and even a macaw—and he does wonderfully with all of them. Because of his background, we are requiring another confident dog in the home to help continue guiding him and building his confidence.

Swartz is the definition of a soft, innocent soul. Watching him blossom has been an absolute privilege, and we know his perfect family is out there—someone patient, kind, and ready to continue showing him the love he’s just beginning to understand.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested, and microchipped—ready to start his next chapter.

If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle companion with a heart of gold, Swartz might just be your perfect match 🐾

Adoption App:

https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/40532/generic
