Sven's Story
Meet Sven — Your Gentle Giant Guardian

Sven is a 6/7 year-old Great Pyrenees mix (affectionately known as a “small pony”) with a giant heart and the calmest soul. He came to the shelter with his brother after their family went through a tough time, and while his brother has already found a home, Sven is still patiently waiting for his turn. Since October, he’s been in foster care learning what it feels like to belong again, and he’s thriving.

Sven had a rough start with heartworms, but he’s feeling great now, eating well, and getting healthier every day. He’s a laid-back, observant boy who enjoys lounging around the house, laying in the dirt bed under the kitchen window, and quietly keeping watch like a true Pyrenees. He’s wonderful with goats, chickens, cats, and even shy dogs, and he’s unfazed by groups of people, just calmly taking it all in.

Evenings are Sven’s favorite time. At 9:00 PM sharp, when he hears “time for bed,” he trots down the hallway, hops onto the bed, and waits for his chew to be placed exactly on his side. He sleeps through the night (sometimes relocating to the cool bathroom floor because comfort matters!). He walks nicely on leash, is a gentleman at the vet, and loves ear scratches and chin rubs. Brushing is tolerated… baths are not. Getting wet is simply not Sven’s thing.

He’s been gentle with kids he’s met, though he hasn’t lived with very young children yet. Sven isn’t asking for much, just patience, consistency, and a place where he can finally exhale and stay. If you have room for a one-eyed guardian with impeccable bedtime manners, a love of snacks, and a heart as big as his paws, Sven is waiting for you. 💙🐶

MORE INFO:
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, or scheduled to be if they arrived in our care too young. Each dog has been seen by our veterinarian and treated for likely the following (all various): Age appropriate vaccines, overall health exam and other alignments as they come up. All dogs are dewormed, given core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP (3 of them if a puppy) and Rabies as well as all are microchipped and on a monthly preventative for flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

All of our animals are placed into foster homes so they thrive and the transition is easier.

If interested in learning more or meeting this pup, please fill out our adoption application.
The application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/JHRA/Dog

Journey Home Rescue Alliance | Apply for Adoption
